Samsung 870 EVO 1TB

Overview

The default answer for a SATA data drive. 560/530 MB/s at the interface ceiling, a full DRAM cache for consistent latency, and 600 TBW over five years. When you need bulk storage on SATA rather than an M.2 slot, this is the safe, unexciting choice.

Great drive, SATA is the limit

Nothing wrong with it, but remember SATA tops out near 550 MB/s regardless. For an OS drive get NVMe; for data this is ideal.

    Reliable bulk storage

Dropped it in as my game and project drive. SATA speeds are fine for anything not needing NVMe. Rock solid so far.

    Steady and dependable

TLC with DRAM, five year warranty, and it just works. Used it to revive an older build and everything feels quick again.

    The default SATA data drive

For a mass-storage 2.5 inch this is the answer. Full DRAM cache keeps latency consistent and 600 TBW is plenty. Holds 560 MB/s reads.
