Overview

Sixteen Zen 5 cores with one cache-stacked CCD and 128MB of total L3, the current do-everything AM5 flagship at a 170W ceiling and 5.7GHz boost. It games within a hair of the 9800X3D while adding twice the threads for rendering and compiles. You pay a heavy premium for that overlap, worth it only if you genuinely do both.

Replaced a threadripper for my workstation

For mixed CAD and occasional gaming this is ideal. Idle scheduling occasionally sends a game to the wrong CCD but a reboot sorts it.

    Flagship price, flagship results

No notes on performance. Just be honest with yourself about whether you need both the cores and the cache before spending this much.

Excellent but you pay for it

16 cores with V-cache is the do-everything chip, but at 170W you want a 360 AIO minimum. Runs hot in all-core Cinebench, low 90s.

    Games and renders without compromise

The stacked-cache CCD handles games while the second CCD chews through Blender. The chipset driver parking works better than it did on the 7950X3D.
